I was so happy to be able to capture this session of sweet Atley & Emery. They are already one year old & have already grown into their own personalities. Capturing two active babies was a challenge, but it was all hands on deck for this session! One tip: babies are active, so always be ready to capture their every move!! You never know what results you get. The end result was SO cute & chic.

Similar to another session I did, we set up the white backdrop in their living room. With low natural light coming through the windows, I was able to capture beautiful and creamy shots.
With cake smash sessions, always be sure to make a list of photos you want BEFORE the session. You don't want to look back and wish you would've gotten a shot but forgot.. so plan ahead.

The first photos you want are ones before the cake! So be sure to have them ready in their outfits and snap a bunch. This is their first birthday session, so capturing many different types will be best.
In this session, their sweet mama wanted to jump in a few images! AND THEY WERE PRECIOUS! Have mom jump in at any point she wants! Let her love and squeeze her sweet miracles as much as possible!
These are sweet memories that they will be able to cherish forever <3
EDITING TIP: When it comes to editing your photos, I use Lightroom. I LOVE this app and it makes editing photos so quick. In this app, you can create presets ahead of time, so all you have to do is click the preset and watch the magic happen. Some images may need a little extra TLC.. whether it be adjusting the exposure, highlights, or shadows.. but you can play around until you land on the perfect image you want.
In my sessions, I try to use similar presets on all my photos so all of my work is cohesive. This is also why clients choose YOU. If they like the lighter and airy style photos, then they would choose a photographer whose work reflects that. Similar with warmer and moody filters. So, find your sweet spot and start to grow a portfolio that is branded similarly.
Here are more photos from this cute and fun session!

I also have loved pairing the smash cake sessions with a bubble bath session afterwards. This is a cute way to clean up after the session :) Have someone else put warm water and bubbles in the tub, that way once you're done with the cake part, you can move directly to the tub. We took the tub and the girls outside and here are some of my favorites...

This was such a fun session and I am looking forward to SO many more smash cake sessions ahead :)
